Cost to Compete: Sunday, May 19
Cost to compete in each category is $120 plus a $5 Service Fee. This cost covers you plus your model. Contestants may enter multiple categories.

Cost to compete in each category* is $85 plus a $5 Service Fee. This cost covers you plus your model. Contestants may enter multiple categories.

Sunday, May 19

Competition Categories:

Traditional

Each competitor has 40 minutes to execute a Traditional Cut and style. Contestant will be judged and scored on the following:

Cut must incorporate scissors and clippers, CTBE is looking for gentlemen cuts: Combover, Pomps, Tapers, Part and Comps, D.A’s etc.
Haircut will be graded on cuts and finished look/style.

NOTE: Points will be deducted if you are not fully prepared.

15 Minute Fade

Each competitor has 15 minutes to complete and will be judged and scored on the following:

Speed and finished product.
Haircut model must have a #2 or equivalent on the top before competition begins.
The top must be taken down to a MINIMUM of 1½ .
Longer hair and scissor techniques are welcome.

NOTE: Points will be deducted if you are not fully prepared.

Freestyle

Each competitor has 40 minutes to complete and will be judged and scored on the following:

Competitor has a option to do whatever he or she wants on model with no reference point such as paper,cell phone tablet etc.
Basically only using skill and imagination.

NOTE: Points will be deducted if you are not fully prepared.

Fade/Beard

Each competitor has 20 minutes to complete and will be judged and scored on the following:

Model must have a #2 or higher on the crown and and some form of facial hair in order to qualify in Fade/Beard category.
Model’s hair must be taken down to a MINIMUM of 1½.
Longer hair is welcome.
A beard or goatee must be groomed to some extent.
Contestants will be judged on finished product of Hair and Beard.

NOTE: Points will be deducted if you are not fully prepared.

Lady Barber Battle

Female competitors only have 40 mins to execute your cut and will be judged and scored on the following:

Judges will be looking for a skin fade on the sides with a hard part and a combover hair cut or even a pompadour with a hard part.

NOTE: Points will be deducted if you are not fully prepared.

Best of Both Worlds (Tag Team)

1 Barber 1 Cosmetologist 1 Model

The 2 competitors have 60 mins to perform a freestyle cut and style on 1 man or women model. The model can be pre colored and artificial hair and or props can be added to create a extreme look if deemed necessary. The model must receive haircut from barber of some sort. i.e a undercut, shaved sides, designs etc. and the stylist can create updo or blow dry.

NOTE: Points will be deducted if you are not fully prepared.

The student will have 50 minutes to perform their best freestyle design on stage with a “barber coach” on stage assisting them. Students are allowed to have their school instructors coach them on stage during competition.

Duplicate Design

Ct barber expo staff will reveal the design on stage 5 min before category starts. The sketch will be on LED Screens and paper copy for each competitor. Color is allowed for enhancement the judges will focus on haircut and design. Competitor has 65 minutes to execute design.

Note* this will not be a human face. It will be detailed but not completely complex.
